Mighty Morphin #1.46 – To Flea or Not to Flee

The teens are running a drive to save the Juice Bar, which is apparently about to go out of business. This seems implausible given it’s literally the only place kids ever hang out in Angel Grove, but nobody ever seems to pay for anything, so maybe all those unpaid tabs put Ernie in the red.

Zack and Trini are leading the fundraising efforts (which mostly amount to wandering around with jars begging for quarters, so I’m sure that’ll help with the Juice Bar’s overhead) while Billy is reviewing Ernie’s books. Because nerd = experienced accountant.

Mighty Morphin #1.44 – Lions and Blizzards

We open with Jason and Bulk competing in a race at the Oddball Games, because there’s no such thing as a day in Angel Grove without a community event. Meanwhile, Zack is openly flirting with Angela in a sack race, to the extent that he spends half of it hopping sideways.

Mighty Morphin #1.43 – Something Fishy

We open with the main cast discussing how excited they are for their upcoming scuba diving trip, which feels like something teenagers wouldn’t normally be allowed to do unsupervised.

Coincidentally, Bulk and Skull have planned a fishing trip at the exact same time, and taunt the teens about how they won’t be able to see any fish because they’ll have caught all of them. Spoiler alert: The bullies’ fishing trip will be nowhere near the dive site.

Mighty Morphin #1.41 – Rita’s Seed of Evil

We are officially two-thirds of the way through the first season of Power Rangers, ladies and gentlemen!

We begin with the teens working on a science project that for some reason Principal Caplan is overseeing. He declares that the saplings they’ve grown are in magnificent shape, and it’s time to start planting them in the park.

Mighty Morphin #1.40 – Doomsday: Part 2

I gave this multi-parter a lot of grief last episode, but let’s focus on the positives: It’s already infinitely better than “Island of Illusion.”

In all seriousness, despite continuity and pacing issues (and being, you know…Power Rangers), the writers have done a good job so far of building tension and establishing a story that shakes up the show’s normal status quo. Let’s see how they handle that in its conclusion.

Mighty Morphin #1.38 – A Bad Reflection on You

This episode begins on Rita’s base, for a change. We blaze through her plan at rapid speed — her Twin Man monster will transform five Putties into duplicates of the Rangers, who will then infiltrate their lives and ruin their reputations. Because their personal reputations are paramount to Rita’s ability to take over the world.

Mighty Morphin #1.37 – Clean-Up Club

Buckle in, kids, because we’ve got ourselves a Trini-centric episode today! I’m pretty sure this is the first one since the Mr. Ticklesneezer incident (as the one with her uncle was really more of a Billy episode), so it’s clearly long overdue.
